Christmas Eve 2021 — New Traditions?

This year, thank Covid, we changed things up.  At 4:30, just at dark, we held a caroling circle outside the church, on the lawn at the Church Road corner:  “Carols ‘Round the Fire.”  At least 60 people bundled up to sing “the oldies,” have some hot cocoa, and visit with neighbors, friends, and family.  Here are two photos from Jay(new town librarian) and Greta Campbell.

Many thanks to the Dawson family for fire-tending, to Cheryl Slocum for creating ambiance and warmth at her Cocoa Cafe, to the New Gloucester Fire Department for the loan of their chicken-cookin’ tanks (unfortunately, frozen to the ground under a tree we really didn’t want to burn down).  Thanks, too, to many who made donations to the Emergency Fuel Assistance Fund.

The 8 pm indoor service was wonderful, too, with the choir, an ensemble of string players, and the inspiring handbell-playing of the DeWan Family (plus Andrew Chin).  If you took some photos, or have some video, we’d love to post them here and on Fb.
