Food Pantry

food pantry boxes of fruits and veggies

The New Gloucester Food Pantry is for greater New Gloucester residents in need of food assistance.

Our mission is to be a reliable source of supplemental food throughout the year. To do this, we purchase non-perishable food from the Good Shepherd Food Bank. The Gray Hannaford donates surplus produce, bread, and other bakery items.

The church hosts several events to raise funds for the Food Pantry. We are also generously supported with food and cash donations from individuals from the community.

Location
The Food Pantry is located behind the church at 19 Gloucester Hill Road.

Open hours
The Food Pantry is open for distribution from 7:30 to 9 am on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

How it works
Participants register annually with a simple sign-in process that is not shared outside of the church records. Everyone receives a box of pantry staples, including frozen meat, and choices of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, and bakery items. We also offer a book shelf with free books for all ages.

Additional resources
New Gloucester residents may also use the Gray Community Food Pantry, which is open on the first and third Friday of the month from noon to 2 pm at the First Congregational Church of Gray, 5 Brown Street in Gray. Contact Alice at alice.graypantry@gmail.com or call 207-714-0270 for more information.
