Our pastor is the spiritual leader of our congregation, with freedom of the pulpit. She administers the program of the church in cooperation with the congregation.
Our church structure is led by a volunteer Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, and several other groups active in the church activities.
Members
The church recognizes four types of congregants: Active Members, Associate Members, Friends, and Former Members, along with attendees of church events and services from the general public.
Our congregants are young and old, from infants to elderly. Most congregants live in New Gloucester and nearby towns. Some are from families who have been members for generations. Some moved here decades ago and raised their families here. Some are new to town and are seeking connection in a faith-based community.
Anyone interested in becoming a member or changing their membership status should contact the pastor. They can also contact the pastor about getting more involved with church activities of all kinds.
All are welcome.
Governing Bodies
The executive body of the church is the Board of Directors, who are elected for terms of office by the Active Members at the Annual Meeting. The Board of Directors have ultimate responsibility for the operating policies and procedures of the church in accordance with the bylaws and the congregation. They meet at least quarterly.
The Board of Trustees has direct oversight of the church’s finances, operation, repairs, and maintenance of the church, as well as hiring staff. This Board meets monthly.
The church Deacons prepare the sanctuary and other spaces for worship and other services. The Board of Missions oversees the church’s ongoing mission and outreach programs.
Other groups active in the church include the Historian, Pastoral Relations, Christian Education, Music, and Liturgical Art groups.
